Tai Chi Chuan (or Tai Ji Quan) is an ancient Chinese art which promotes
health, relaxation and the development of self defence skills. Its slow
rhythmic movements help to develop flexibility, improve circulation and aid
concentration.
People of all ages and abilities can learn Tai Chi Chuan because the training
is adjusted to each individual.
The benefits of Tai Chi Chuan
We have collected data from our students, who report benefits for a wide
variety of ailments, including back trouble, depression, arthritis, poor
circulation, migraine and high blood pressure.

How Tai Chi Chuan promotes health
Tai Chi Chuan is based on the principles which underlie traditional Chinese
medicine. Each of the 108 movements of the form stimulates the same
energy channels which are used by acupuncturists and other therapists.
Students tell us that they experience a sense of peaceful energy after a
session of Tai Chi Chuan and often sleep better. Gradually as the energy channels
unblock, the body will accelerate its healing process and life then begins
to flow more easily.

What is Chi Kung?
Chi Kung (or Qi Gong) is a general term for ways of cultivating qi or life energy. Tai Chi
Chuan is an advanced type of Chi Kung. We teach additional Chi Kung
exercises which work internally and externally to promote health in the
widest sense.
Chi Kung exercises involve postures and movements which can be
performed while standing, sitting, lying or walking. They assist with
relaxation, help develop awareness and later bring control of body and
mind. Although simple to learn, the exercises require patience and
perseverance for lasting benefits.
